Review Excerpt – Sound + Vision
December, 2010
If we’re going to have a king of power pop, Dwight Twilley may be the man. His 1975 debut single,’ I’m on Fire,’ was a defining song of the genre, and all of his albums since then have some of the same magic. Green Blimp doesn’t add any new wrinkles, but it’s a typically classy effort, and something of a career recap…The soul-infused ‘Get Up’ and the infectious ‘Me and Melanie’ could have fit comfortably on his first two albums…Some might object to a fiftysomething guy singing about ‘foxy hot girls,’ but when his voice stills sounds as seductive as it did 35 years ago, why quibble?”
